What Momentum Ranking Measures
The Momentum Ranking tracks how a channel's recent videos are performing relative to that channel's historical average. It helps identify channels that are currently gaining traction—not necessarily the largest channels, but those experiencing notable growth in engagement.
Key factors in the momentum calculation:
- Recent performance: How recent videos are performing compared to older videos from the same channel
- Trend direction: Whether performance is accelerating, stable, or fading
- Consistency: How consistently the channel is publishing and engaging its audience
How Lift (Views/Likes) Works
The "lift" metrics (e.g., "Views 1.56x") compare a video's actual performance to its expected performance based on the channel's historical averages.
Example: A lift of 1.56x means the video received 56% more views than expected based on the channel's typical performance.
- 1.0x = Performing as expected (baseline)
- >1.0x = Outperforming (green indicators)
- <1.0x = Underperforming (red/orange indicators)
The color-coded heatmap provides a quick visual indicator of relative performance.

What Rankings Are NOT
Important: Our rankings and metrics are purely informational. They are NOT financial advice and should never be used as a basis for investment decisions.
Momentum rankings are NOT:
- Investment advice or buy/sell recommendations. A high-ranking channel is not a signal to follow their trading advice.
- An assessment of whether a creator's opinions or predictions are correct. We measure engagement and momentum, not accuracy of financial views.
- A guarantee of content quality or accuracy. Popular content is not necessarily accurate or well-researched.
- A substitute for your own research. Always verify information from primary sources and consult qualified financial advisors.
Data Sources
Our rankings are based on publicly available data:
- Video view counts (from YouTube)
- Like counts (from YouTube)
- Publishing frequency and timing
- Historical channel performance
We do not have access to subscriber-only metrics, revenue data, or private analytics.
Limitations
Please be aware of these limitations:
- Rankings only cover channels in our tracked list—not all financial YouTube
- Metrics may lag behind real-time data by several hours
- View/like counts can fluctuate due to YouTube's systems
- Viral videos may skew momentum temporarily
- New channels have less historical data, which may affect accuracy
